Adam Wurtz, Hungarian, 1927 to 1994, lithograph on paper, Queen of Spades, 1980 in the Surrealism manner. Signed and dated in the print, lower right. Signed in pencil, lower right. Titled in pencil, lower to the center. Numbered 96 of 100 in pencil, lower left. A twentieth century Hungarian painter, illustrator, and printmaker, Adam Wurtz studied art under the Hungarian artists, Hincz Gyula, Bortnyik Sandor, Por Bertalan, and Charles Koffan, at the Academy of Fine Arts in Budapest, Hungary. After Wurtz graduated around 1853, he continued his studies abroad. Wurtz exhibited his art in Hungary, Japan, Russia, Romania, Vienna, the United States, and elsewhere.
