Description
John Moyr Smith (Scottish, 1839-1912) for Minton, a set of six tiles form his "Idylls of the King" series, designed 1875-1876, each marked "Mintons / China Works / Stoke-On-Trent" to underside, brown on cream, each tile depicting an Arthurian figure or event, from a group of 12 scenes, pattern no. 1465, based on original designs in the Minton Archive, folio no. 1820, and including 'Elaine', 'Vivien', 'Mort d'Arthur' and others, together with 'Blue Beard' and 'Rumplestilzchen.' One framed: 6" H x 6" W.
