Description
Germany, ca. 18th century. Superbly executed porcelain figure of a gentleman, standing with hands in expressive poses, wearing long coat, black wig and lace sleeves, hand-painted. Meissen mark (crossed swords) on base along with maker's initial, all in blue pigments; Along with standing lady of about the same period, possibly Dresden, early 19th century with a maker's mark we cannot identify. She stands on an integral pedestal with hands together at her waist, floral elements throughout, again all hand-painted. Maker's mark on base is of a crown and shield with letter "S" on shield. Size of both: 5.25" H (13.3 cm)
