A Chinese Shiwan sculpture of Lu Yu

signed Pan Yushu, 19th century

The figure of Lu Yu seated upon a rock beside a teapot with teacup in one hand. With two four-character marks to interior. Sold with associated wooden stand.

H: 11 1/2, W: 8 1/2, D: 6 3/8 in.

H: 29.21, W: 21.59, D: 16.19 cm. (sculp)

Provenance: Estate of Yip Hon (1904-1997). Nicknamed Kwai Wong (translated as Ghost King), Yip Hon was a gambling tycoon in South China. He a amassed great wealth in the casinos there, through his technique of listening dice, eventually opening his own casino.
