A pair of Chinese polychrome-enameled zisha tripod jardinieres
19th century
Each with registers of geometric motifs to body and white-ground cartouches with flower and bird motifs. Both with eight-character mark to underside. (2).
H: 3 3/8, Dia: 5 5/8 in.
H: 8.57, Dia: 14.29 cm. (each)
Provenance: Estate of Yip Hon (1904-1997). Nicknamed Kwai Wong (translated as Ghost King), Yip Hon was a gambling tycoon in South China. He a amassed great wealth in the casinos there through his technique of listening dice, eventually opening his own casino.
