A Chinese cinnabar room divider with precious stone inlay
1950s-1970s
Comprised of six wooden-frame panels, each with three tiers of inlaid animals and nature scenes on cinnabar. Each tier encased with glass.
H: 77 5/8, W: 17 1/2 in.
H: 197.17, W: 44.45 cm. (each panel)
Provenance: Estate of Yip Hon (1904-1997). Nicknamed Kwai Wong (translated as Ghost King), Yip Hon was a gambling tycoon in South China. He a amassed great wealth in the casinos there, through his technique of listening dice, eventually opening his own casino.

Condition
One with crack to cinnabar. Minor stone cracks and natural inclusions throughout. One panel with loss of one glass pane. Overall good condition.
