After Gilbert Stuart, American, 1755 to 1828, 19th century oil on canvas painting depicting a portrait of George Washington, an American military officer, statesman, and Founding Father who served as the first president of the United States from 1789 to 1797. The current portrait is extremely similar to the one used for the design of the One Dollar Bill. Stuart created 27 copies of them with some grades of changes, variations and differences.
