DROPLEAF STAND. 1st quarter 19th century, probably West Paris, Maine. This early one-drawer stand fitted with a full dovetail drawer and two drop leaves supported on four boldly turned Sheraton legs. The bold turnings of the legs and the dramatic paint decoration is strongly reminiscent of Maine stands frequently found from the West Paris, ME area. The entirety of the stand decorated with bold black swirl design on a red background and having yellow and green pinstripe decoration. SIZE: 29" h x 33 1/4" (leaves up), 17 1/2" (leaves down) x 18" d. CONDITION: generally very good condition. There appears to be some paint touch-up and particularly it appears to us that the green pinstriping maybe replaced? Paint is generally strong overall with some scratches and scuff marks from wear and use. (05-145/JJ). $2,500-3,500.
