Item Details

Description

MAHOGANY DESK. Last quarter 19th century. New York. Robert J. Horner was established in 1886 in lower Manhattan, N.Y. They were renown and identified by their incredible quality, there tremendous attention to detail and their lavish carvings. The rectangular top with elaborately carved foliate border in shallow relief above the shaped apron embellished with scrolling leaf tips. The frieze is fitted with a pair of aligned short drawers; the opposing side with simulated drawers. The table is supported by full body seated griffins at each corner, joined by a full shelf with serpentine edges on suppressed ball feet. SIZE: 29 1/2" h x 50" l x 30" d. CONDITION: excellent, nicely polished. (05-137/JJ). $2,500-4,500.
