Description
REVIVAL CARVED OAK TALL CLOCK. Manufactured in the late 19th century. Retailed by J.E. Caldwell of Philadelphia, PA and is so marked. The case is made from beautiful quarter sawn oak. Clocks of this caliber were generally custom made. Bonnet is well carved with a molded crest and swan's neck pediment. Brass dial with Roman numeral chapter ring. At the top of the dial in the arch is a lovely paint decorated moon phase dial. This dial is a calendar operating on a 30-day cycle showing the phases of the moon. 8-day brass movement driven by three large original brass clad canister weights The clock may be operated in silent mode or in chiming mode which strikes on the half hour and hour. SIZE: 8' 4" h. Case 27" w x 15" d. CONDITION: excellent. The clock also retains its original key and lock on the doors. (05-192/JJ). $3,000-5,000.
