Painted Tin Birdcage, John Maxheimer, New York, New York, c. 1885. The wire bars with tin hoops at base, center, and top forming cylindrical cage containing three openings, two with cast iron doors inscribed 'J. MAXHEIMER'S / PATENT JUNE 3 1882 NY' at bottom, a scalloped cornice painted blue and red crowning the shoulder below onion-shaped dome surmounted by wooden finial with tin base from which a ring perch hangs, mounted on octagonal painted tin stand with pierced gallery rim raised on eight ball feet (imperfections), 40cm wide, 40cm deep, 60cm high (16in wide, 16in deep, 24 1/2in high).
