Betty Eagle (Native American, Paiute / Washoe, 20th to 21st century) Beaded Basket, ca. 2014. A beautiful beaded degikup basket made from plant fibers over coiled cane, the exterior completely beaded from base to rim in geometric patterns. The basket is made by a centuries old coiling technique using native plants such as willow and bracken, and the seed beads are applied over the top using a netted stitch - a painstaking process. The degikup style baskets are characterized by their flat base, rounded form, with a relatively small mouth opening- when covered in beads or intricate weaving patterns they are considered fancy baskets. Size: 6" Diameter x 4" H (15.2 cm x 10.2 cm))

Some fraying and tears to threads and missing a few beads in areas. Beadwork is in good condition and coiled basketry is intact.
