North Pacific, Hawaiian Islands, ca. 18th century CE. A rare, hand-carved wooden spear called a pahe'e that is of long, pointed form and covered in rich patina. The pahe'e is an integral component used in the age-old Hawaiian game Moa Pahe'e. The objective is to slide the pahe'e between a pair of stakes at a predetermined distance. Size: 40.2" L x 1" W (102.1 cm x 2.5 cm); 24.2" H (61.5 cm) on included custom stand.
