Description
These are believed to be Pre-Columbian Textile Spindle Whorls. There are a total of 3 made of clay, and each one has hand crafted designs consisting of line, circle, and dot patterns. Two are spherical and one has a small knob on the top. They all measure around 3/4 inch and come with a wooden base. Spindle whorls were evidence of textile production and used to make thread. A dowel was inserted through the hole, to which plant fibers or wool were attached. The whorl was then spun in order to twist and compress the fibers into a thread.
