Description
"The History of the Colony of Nova-Caesaria, or New Jersey; Containing , An Account of its First Settlement, Progressive Improvements, The Original and Present Constitution, and Other Events to the Year 1721. With some Particulars Since; and a Short View of its Present State" by Samuel Smith, first edition printed and sold in Burlington New Jersey in 1765 by James Parker on presses owned by Benjamin Franklin, sold also by David Hall in Philadelphia. Mostly detached front cover, title page detached but present, with ownership signatures in pencil to inside cover Geo. Hulme Mt. Holly NJ May (date illegible), in ink to pages in front of detached title page for John Merrick in 1766, John Hulme in 1797, George Hulme in 1818, James Hulme in 1867, George Hulme (undated), James Hulme 1876, James L (?) Hulme Jr. 1880, Frederic L Hulme 1922, in pencil "Care of John W Barber / New Haven, Oct(?) 4th 1843", and in ink George Hulme (undated) to back of title page, page inside back cover torn, with newspaper clipping pencil dated 1862 pinned in, adjacent page has pencil sketch of a building, rectangle with line down the middle and the name Ella written three times, some other numbers / notes. Pages are in overall good condition for their age, with some staining, foxing and discoloration visible throughout.
