Miniature English porcelain scent or perfume bottle with original sterling silver top. English hallmarks for Birmingham, Sterling, and 1904. Finely hand-painted with a Western looking Japanese woman. This perfume may have either been an item sold at a Gilbert and Sullivan "Mikado" performance, or influenced by its popularity. In 1904 the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company was on tour with the Mikado in Scotland.

CONDITION : Overall good condition with light wear. The silver top has a tiny dent and some tarnish. The top is original and still has its cork liner. The top fits on the threading of the porcelain bottle but the threads of the top have expanded slightly from over 100 years of use and so it is a bit loose. A jeweler could probably tighten the threads for a good seal, but not necessary unless it is going to hold perfume. The top is tight enough that it does not fall off.
