An original ape doll prop as seen used in Planet of the Apes (20th Century Fox, 2001).

This doll is composed of a combination of hand-carved wood, leather, and corn husk, which resembles the appearance of an ape in costume.

This type of doll prop would have been seen at the beginning of the film, at Senator Sandar's (David Warner) home.

Tim Burton's 2001 adaptation of Planet of the Apes follows Mark Whalberg as "Captain Leo Davidson," an astronaut who is held captive when he enters into another dimension that is dominated by apes. Davidson partners with Ari (Helena Bonham Carter), a chimpanzee who is against the poor treatment of humans, to form a rebellion.
