The square plexiglass frame that housed Andy Warhol's "Mao" screen print, shot two times by Dennis Hopper in his home in the late 1970s.

According to Alex Hitz (family friend and trustee of Hopper's estate): "One night in the shadows, Dennis, out of the corner of his eyes, saw the Mao and he was so spooked by it that he got up and shot at it twice, putting two bullet holes in it. Andy saw it [and] loved it." Together, Warhol and Hopper circled the bullet hole to the lower right and labeled it "warning shot" and did the same for the bullet hole to the upper center (which pierced Mao's image through the left eye), labeling it simply "bullet hole."

Includes the original backing board which has been inscribed "For Dennis Hopper / With Love / 25 Feb, 1976" by artist Edmond Gaultney, as well as a small reproduction of the print once contained by the frame.
