Description
A paperback copy of El Topo (Douglas Book Corporation, 1971) that personally belonged to Dennis Hopper. The cover reads "A Book of the Film / by / Alexandro Jodorowsky / El Topo." The book is actually divided into two parts. Part one, titled El Topo, is "a scene-by-scene, image-by-image narrative of the film" (a trippy Mexican western with a fervent cult following), while part two, titled Conversations with Jodorowsky, is the director discussing the making and meanings of the movie.
Hopper was a fan of Jodorowsky and El Topo (ABKCO Films, 1970) and allowed the filmmaker to edit a version of Hopper's passion project The Last Movie (Universal Pictures, 1971). Although he rejected the edit, he acknowledged the artistic influence of Jodorowsky on Hopper's final version of the film.
