Victor S. Gao "Maui Sunset". Dimensions: ​18X24​​. 24-1/2 X 30-1/2 frame. About the Artist: Victor Gao was born in China and has loved art since childhood. He graduated from the Art Department of Anhui Teachers University with a B.A. in Fine Arts in 1974. Immediately upon graduation, he taught painting at the University. In 1978, he was admitted to the Oil Painting Department of the Zhejiang Academy of Fine Arts in Hangzhou, one of the most beautiful cities in China. Upon receiving his M.A. in Fine Arts from the Academy in 1981, he returned to Anhui Teachers University. In 1986, due to the excellence of his art and the dedication of his teaching, he was appointed the youngest ever Associate Professor of Art at the University. There he taught until he emigrated to America.While in China, Mr. Gao's oil paintings were exhibited in the country's most prestigious venue: - The National Art Museum - on four separate occasions, an almost unheard of accomplishment.Over twenty of his works have been published in more than ten different national publications of national stature. His paintings were awarded the grand prize in Anhui Province's art competition three times. He is listed in the Great Biographic Dictionary of Chinese Artists, the Artists of Chinese Origin in North America Directory and the Index of Asian American Artists.Mr. Gao fell in love with Hawaii after moving here in 1993. He has become an active member of the Association of Hawaii Artists and also retains membership in the World Association of Chinese Artists. He has been working on impressionistic landscapes and urbanscapes of Hawaii, but with an oriental flavor. During his brief time in America, his paintings have been selected for exhibition in the following: Association of Hawaii Artists Juried Show Hawaii, 1994.
