Description
Doug Maytubbie (Choctaw, Born 1940-) Indian Watercolor Paintings. The paintings are signed, "Doug Maytubbie," and dated, "87, 88, 89" below Maytubbie's signature Indian ceremonial spear trademark. Doug Maytubbie is a member of the Choctaw Tribe and was born in Battiest, Oklahoma. He graduated from Chilocco Indian School in 1959. After high school, Doug joined the United States Army and served from 1960-1965. Doug is a self-taught artist and started drawing as a child. He did receive some formal training while attending college. He is a 1978 graduate from Eastern Oklahoma State College with an Associate Degree and a 1981 graduate of Central State University with a bachelor in science degree. His art is widely collected and is represented in private and public collections across the county and in Europe. Professionally framed and matted. (1) Hunter hunting in the moonlight. Visible image measures 11 3/4" X 15 3/4". Frame measures 17" X 21". (1) Ceremonial Indian dancer. Visible image measures 11 3/4" X 15 3/4". Frame measures 17" X 21". (1) Ceremonial Indian dancer. Visible image measures 8" X 12'. Frame measures 11 1/8" X 15 1/4". (1) Painting of an Indian wearing a Hopi style ceremonial costume. The visible image measures 5 3/4" X 8 1/2". The frame measures 11" X 13 3/4" and is signed by the artist and dated 1988. The Larry Mangus Collection, Corinth, Mississippi.
