Description
Beautiful impressionist plein air painting by well known California artist, Kate Carew (1869-1961). Probably a view in the Carmel Valley or Monterey area. Circa 1920's - 1940's.
Oil on canvas board. Framed.
Signed by the artist lower right: Kate Carew. Various penciled inscriptions on the reverse.
PAINTING - 10" x 13"
FRAME - 15.5 x 18.5
CONDITION : Excellent condition. Looks to have been cleaned fairly recently. No in-painting or restoration seen under examination with ultra-violet light. It appears that the canvas board was cut down, either by the artist or a previous framer, from the original 11" x 14" size (now 11" x 13" - likely cut long ago as this is a size that was common during the first half of the 20th century). Frame is in good condition but is a modern frame.
