Three-dimensional painting depicting the side of a brick building with graffiti by well-known African American Black urban artist, Walter M. Cade III (1936 - 2008). Circa 1970's.
Signed in red paint in the middle of the image: Walter Cade III. Oil or acrylic on stretched canvas. Unframed.

This painting is part of a continuing series depicting images of windows, bricks, graffiti and other details that convey human stories in the urban architecture of New York City, where he lived.
The bricks are raised up from the canvas. There is graffiti painted on the bricks: "Amour Toujours" ("Love Forever"). The artist's signature is in the form of graffiti painted in red in the middle of the work. The word "REVOLUTION" painted in a light, almost transparent white - gray.Walter Cade's paintings are in a number of museums.
CONDITION : Excellent condition with no damage or restoration.
PROVENANCE: New York collection.
NOTES / REFERENCES : Walter M. Cade III (1936-2008) an African-American artist, was born in New York City in 1931. He studied at the Institute of Modern Art in New York and kept a studio in Jamaica, Queens where he produced paintings and collages. He is known for his abstractions, architectural images, and cityscapes.
