GERMAN METTLACH CARD / GAMBLING MOTIF CERAMIC STEINS, LOT OF TWO, mold numbers 1395 and 2090, each having etched sides with polychrome hand-painted decorations, ceramic inset lids, and metal thumbrests, 1/2 liter size, comprising one depicting a man sitting in his club smoking a pipe, signed "Hein Schlitt", and one featuring a diamond, a heart, a spade, and a club with saying that translates to "Whether you have a loss or a gain with a light heart accept both" below. Marks to underside include impressed abbey with "METTLACH / VB", "GEGEN NACHBILDUNG / GESCHUTZT", "GES. GESCH.", and additional impressed numerals. Late 19th/early 20th century. 8 1/8" HOA.
