Description

An antique Japanese, Meiji era, enamel Silver vase attributed to Hayashi Kodenji, Japanese, 1831 to 1915. Circa 1900s. The baluster form vase is enameled with polychrome image of gold sparrows in bamboo trees and blossoming flowers made in the Cloisonne technique on a dark blue ground. The base of the ware is adorned with a traditional Greek motif. Marked with an impressed mark, Silver, on the bottom. Hayashi Kodenji was a pivotal figure in the history of Cloisonne enamel manufacturer.
