Five Civil War Union Generals Signatures. (1) John Sedgwick (1813-1864) signature and CDV. Major General Sedgwick served the Union army. He would be killed at the Battle of Spotsylvania Court House, making him one of the highest ranking Union officers killed in the war. Measures 2 7/8" X 4". CDV measures 2 3/8" X 4". (1) General William Sooy Smith (1830-1916) autographed clip. Smith served the Union during the Civil War. His forces would be defeated by Confederate General Forrest after Smith disobeyed orders from Sherman. He spent his life after the war as a civil engineer. The slip measures 7/8" X 2 1/2". (1) Union General James W. Gwyn (1828-1906) autograph. Gwyn was involved in many battles during the Civil War, including getting wounded during the Battle of the Wilderness. He would lead his Third Brigade to Washington, D.C., for the Grand Review, May 23, 1865. (1) Union General James Birdseye McPherson (1828-1864) autograph. McPherson fought at Shiloh, Vicksburg, and was killed south of Atlanta by General Hood's men. Measures approx. 2 1/4" X 2 7/8". (1)
