W60" H40" D30" This desk belonged to New York Columnist Samuel Wilkeson, columnist for the New York Tribune during the Civil War. Wilkeson was a columnist for the Union Army during the war. An outspoken proponent for the war until his own son was killed fighting, Wilkeson then began to write in opposition of the war and was very outspoken. The piece has the writer's name in a plaque at the center of the desk and was a gift from the Tribune to the writer upon his retirement. Sold from the collection of a Lake Murray SC lady.
