Description
Southeast Asia, Indonesia, Bali, ca. 20th century CE. A wonderful vase, hand-carved from the bone of an ungulate with the intricate, openwork design of a dragon. The sinuous, scaled serpent slithers around the tubular vessel, while the rim presents an undulating periphery almost resembling the blooming petals of a flower bud. The bottom is closed up with an additional piece of bone. A gorgeous and fascinating vessel! Size: 2.5" L x 2.2" W x 7" H (6.4 cm x 5.6 cm x 17.8 cm)
