Description
Antique set of fine folded floral napkin German Majolica luncheon plates potted between 1850 and ca. 1875. The base is marked with Registrirt & the two line pattern designation of the period. Registrirt simply means registered. It is an early form of copyright notice that was used during the time in which registrations were still processed by local authorities (between 1840 and 1875). If you know a little German and are wondering: registrirt is not the result of a typo, it is merely the older form of writing registriert. This brilliant 1860-1870 set is in excellent condition, and several sources indicate that the potter was located in Western Germany, and took inspiration from the French border company of Sarreguemines. This gorgeous 150 year old set displays well. Each 8.25x8.25. Weight 6 lbs 5 oz.
