Description
DESCRIPTION: "Composition #12". Jean Xceron (Greek American, 1890-1967). Oil on canvas. Signed "Xceron – 61" to lower right. Framed. Created 1961. Xceron was a Greek American who learned traditional draftsmanship at the Corcoran School of Art in Washington DC. A chance encounter with avant-garde paintings borrowed from Alfred Stieglitz left a deep impression on him. He eventually traveled to Paris and wrote art reviews for several publications as one of the few reviewers sympathetic to modern art. It was during this time that his work evolved to portray rhythmic fluid movement rather than solid form. MEASUREMENTS: 23" high x 35" wide; frame 1/2" wide. CONDITION: Painting has no defects noted. Minor paint loss on frame.
