Tesla, Edison, Many Presidents, Fantastic Autograph Album (37 Sigs) with Great Breakup Value

An autograph album containing over thirty autographs of late-19th century through early-20th century notables. Kept by Jessica Bruce of Syracuse, New York, sister-in-law of Andrew Dickson White's son, Frederick Davies White (1859-1901). With many signatures on small cards, most mounted or written three to a page on recto and verso. Last half of leaves blank. Morocco with gilt edges. Moderately worn. 

Highlights include, in alphabetical order by surname:

• Alexander Agassiz (1835-1910). American scientist and engineer. Signature, "A. Agassiz", on a mounted card, 3” x 2”.
• Alexander Graham Bell (1847-1922). Scottish-born inventor, scientist and engineer. Clipped Signature, “Alexander Graham Bell”, 4” x .75”.
• Albert Bierstadt (1830-1902). German-American painter. Signature, "ABierstadt," on a mounted card, 3.25” x 2”.
• Andrew Carnegie (1835-1919). Scottish-American industrialist and philanthropist. Autograph Note Signed: "The best wish I can wish you my boy is that you may prove such a man as your grand, grandfather, a man whom I esteem myself most happy that I can call my Counsellor and Friend / Andrew Carnegie / New York November 15th 1901”.
• Winston Churchill (1871-1947). American best-selling novelist, often mistaken for British Prime Minister of the same name. Signature, “Winston Churchill/Rome January 1st 1901”.
• Grover Cleveland (1837-1908). 22nd and 24th U.S. President. Signature, “Grover Cleveland”, on a mounted card, 3.5” x 2.5”.
• John Adams Dix (1798-1879). American politician and Civil War general. Autograph Letter Signed, “John A. Dix”, 2pp hinged to album page, New York, April 15, 1875.
• Thomas A. Edison (1847-1931). American inventor and businessman. Signature, “Thomas A. Edison”, on a mounted visiting card, 3” x 2”.
• Horace Greeley (1811-1872). American newspaper editor. Autograph Letter Signed, “Horace Greeley”, 1p mounted to album page, New York, December 31, 1870.
• Julia Ward Howe (1819-1910). American author and poet. Autograph Quote Signed: “’Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord’ / Julia Ward Howe / November 1903”, on a slip of paper hinged to album page.
• Samuel Pierpont Langley (1834-1906). American aviation pioneer, astronomer and physicist. Signature, "S. P. Langley" on a mounted card, 3” x 2”.
• William McKinley (1843-1901). 25th U.S. President. Signature, “William McKinley”, on a mounted Executive Mansion card, 4.25” x 2.75”.
• John Pierpont Morgan (1837-1913). American financier. Signature, "J. Pierpont Morgan / Aix les Bains / May 10 1902".
• Adelina Patti (1843-1919). Italian opera singer. Autograph Quote Signed: "A beautiful voice is the gift of God / Adelina Patti / Baroness Lederström / Rome 19 February 19, 1902”.
• Theodore Roosevelt (1858-1919). 26th U.S. President. Signature, “Theodore Roosevelt”, on a mounted White House card, 4.25” x 2.75”.
• Ernest Rutherford (1871-1937). New Zealand physicist. Signature, "E. Rutherford" on a mounted card, 3” x 2.25”.
• Robert Louis Stevenson (1850-1894). Scottish novelist and poet. Signature, “Robert Louis Stevenson”, mounted to an album page, 3.25” x .75”.
• Nikola Tesla (1856-1943). Serbian-American inventor and electrical engineer. Signature, “Nikola Tesla”, on a mounted visiting card, 3” x 2”.
• Booker T. Washington (1856-1915). American author and educator. Signature, “Booker T. Washington”, clipped from a Typed Letter Signed, mounted to album page, [1902], 5.25” x 1.5”.
• Daniel Webster (1782-1852). American lawyer and statesman. Signature, "Dan'l Webster / U.S. Senate" on a slip of paper mounted to album page, 3.25” x 1”.
