Description
DESCRIPTION: A pair of monumental bronze vases by Ferdinand Barbedienne and Edouard Lievre, selected by the two to be displayed at the (1878 Exposition Universelle) The pair of urns designed in the japonisme style feature intersecting, scrolling lotus and floral reliefs with polychrome enamel ground medallions throughout. Double finely cast figural handles depicting inverted felines (Caracal) fitted with open-work handles grace the neck and shoulders of the vases each raised on polished slate, aesthetic formed bases. Each engraved: "F. Barbedienne"
