A well inked impression with strong contrast. This etching depicts a scene from E.E. Cummings' HIM. In Act II, Scene 5, a small chorus sings the folk song "Frankie and Johnnie" on the stage of the Provincetown Players Theatre. Sloan kept his program from his viewing of the play in his diary. Similar prints may be found in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York City as well as the Detroit Institute of Arts.
