Description
Central Asia, Tibet, ca. late 19th to early 20th century CE. These crowns were worn on top of hats by Buddhist monks during ceremonies or ritual performances, and the panels were sometimes painted by the monk as part of a meditative practice. Size of crown: 20" L x 7" H (50.8 cm x 17.8 cm); frame: 23" L x 17" W (58.4 cm x 43.2 cm)
