Item Details

Description

An oversized reddish brown pottery art piece in the form of a single-handled tea pot (called Yokode Kyusu in Japanese), serves as a remarkably desired viewing sculpture rather than a practical utensil. Created in the style of Chosen (korean) Karatsu style ware it is coated with a celadon glaze which is splashed and dripped over the pottery in a singular traditional form that has been used is in Japanese tea ceremonies for hundreds of years. The emphasis is on the proportion and the poetic display of the glaze that allows one to meditate on the concept of the ephemeral wabi sabi. A sensational collectors' piece.

Condition

Very Good Condition. No lid or strainer. One side vessel has a dent -unsure if it is original and or intentional. Overall, amazing specimen.
