In a poem written by Robert Burns in 1791, Tam O' Shanter is a drunken farmer who happens upon witches who pursue him and his horse. He escapes, but his horse doesn't quite make it - one witch pulls its tail off. The Scottish woolen cap is reputedly named after this poem's hero.Royal Doulton backstamp.
