Description
Very RARE Battle Creek Electric Vibratory Chair, works! ***BUYER TO ARRANGE SHIPPING In the early 20th century, the Battle Creek Sanitarium which was owned and run by Dr. John Harvey Kellogg and his brother Will Keith Kellogg of Kellogg’s cereals, was a popular health spa for the more affluent who needed to get into shape for their health. The "San", in addition to getting people physically in shape, created various health foods for its patrons and for sale. From their diet program came Kellogg’s Corn Flakes, from the mechanotherapy department came the vibratory chair. The chair shakes rather violently and is painful to sit in but after a few minutes of treatment it would supposedly stimulate intestinal peristalsis. A longer treatment would cure headaches and back pain and would also increase the supply of healthy oxygen to the body.
