Thrust Science Fiction Review (later retitled Quantum Science Fiction & Fantasy Review) was nominated for 5 Hugo Awards for best semi-professional magazine and best fanzine. For 20 years, from 1973 - 1993, Thrust/Quantum was one of the most respected science fiction review magazines. Helmed by long-time editor & publisher D. Douglas Fratz, Thrust was initially published by the University of Maryland Science Fiction Society based upon a proposal made by Fratz. Fratz honed his editing, publishing and production skills and rapidly transformed a side-stapled fanzine into a spectacular pro-zine with the highest quality art and article contributions. Each issue of THRUST/QUANTUM featured articles by many of the most respected authors and critics in the field, interviews with top writers and artists, and reviews of current books, movies, audio tapes and video games.
