Item Details
Description
Lee Gatch (American, 1902-1968) Pastoral Landscape (Bucks County)

Signed 'GATCH' bottom right, oil on canvas
16 x 14 in. (40.6 x 35.6cm)
Executed circa 1935.
Housed in a Bernard Badura frame.

Provenance

Estate sale (under Nick Gallicchio, Esq., Attorney), Lambertville, New Jersey.
Acquired directly through the above, circa 1990.
Property from the Estate of Angela Gross Folk, New Jersey.

The unlined canvas in overall good condition. With surface craquelure visible, mostly in the upper right quadrant. While most is sytabilized, we see several hairline cracks slightly rising up, which might therefore call for local restoration. Examination under UV light does not reveal any sign of inpainting. We do notice a vertical patch verso, corresponding to the bottom left area of the painting, which appears completely intact under UV light.
