Born in Berlin, Peter Max moved frequently with his family, living in more than six countries until they settled in the United States. Max studied in New York City at the Art Students League, Pratt Institute, and the School of Visual Art. Max was initially revered as a visionary pop artist, beloved for his "Cosmic '60s" style, and this style later evolved to Neo-Expressionism. Max employed a bold linear technique of painting using bold Fauvist colors and intriguing themes. As he evolved from Pop to Neo-Expressionism, his work became more painterly and sensuous, and today his work continues to inspire young artists. Max's unique symbolism and vibrant color palette have continued to inspire new generations of Americans throughout the decades.

This piece is ccompanied by a COA from Hanson Art Galleries dated 12/25/90 that includes the edition specifications, name of printmaker (Esther Light), and states, "Each of the following processes was done under the artist's direction and with his approval. Selection of master image, direction of printing process, preparation of final image, final proof, cancellation of plates." It also indicates no previous use of image by the artist in other medium, no prior prints of same image produced by different method, and no prior or later editions produced from same master.

Has not been examined outside the frame but appears to be in very nice condition save minor crease marks to the margins. Accompanied by COA from Hanson Art Galleries. Frame has a few minor surface scuffs and there is some streaking/debris on verso of the glass. Fit with suspension wire.
