Description
Japanese Silver Vase with Phoenix: Katsuyuki Koku (Meiji Period), probably created around 1910, is a fine example of Japanese silver artistry. A pair of phoenix (Ho-ho) fly over peony plants. The motifs symbolize longevity and prosperity. The birds and flowers are intricately inlaid with shakudo (gold/copper alloy).The base bears artist's stamp. It sits on a carved base. The vase comes with a tomobako with label fixed to one corner. Provenance: Grace Tsumugi Fine Art, London.
