Description
Japanese Metal Koro: Shibuichi Boat, c. 1895 in date, is signed by the artist Yamakawa zo . The ingenious design of a fishing boat with cormorants perched on the roof is exquisitely created in Shibuichu and silver. The cover of the incense burner is crafted out of silver; cherry blossoms form the major design. When the thatched roof covers the boat, there is an illusion of a cooking fire on the boat. The cormorants are separately cast elements. Artist's inscription is on the bottom of the boat. The tomobako has a label on the side of the box.
