AMERICAN FOLK ART MOURNING MINIATURE, watercolor, featuring mother and child in the shade of a willow tree beside a tomb bearing Classical urn and inscription for "M. T. R.", who died June 7, 1800 at 24 years old, no signature located. Housed in original gilt-metal pendant- / brooch-style frame. Possibly Virginia. Dated 1800. 2 1/2" x 2" OA.

Provenance:

The important collection of H. Marshall Goodman Jr., Richmond, VA.

Condition

Very good overall visual condition. Frame with minor wear and discoloration. Glass with light scratches.
