Description
CALIFORNIA NATIVE AMERICAN TWINE-WOVEN BASKET, semi-ovoid form, having diagonal stepped design, interior fitted with a red silk drawstring bag. Probably Pomo, Hupa, Karuk, or Yurok. Late 19th/first quarter 20th century. 4" H, 4 1/4" DOA rim without interior bag.

The important collection of H. Marshall Goodman Jr., Richmond, VA.
Condition
Basket in very good overall condition with rim out of round, some scattered breaks and losses to dark-colored twine, interior bag currently detached and having sizable tears mostly to top edge and to medial where it was formerly attached to the basket.
