Description

AMERICAN FOLK ART CARVED PINE DOVE IN FLIGHT, solid, spread-wing form with delineated feathers to ends of wings and tail, head with carved beak and applied glass bead-like eyes, raised on twisted copper-wire legs and feet. Retains partial original white-over-white painted surface. Second half 19th century. 2 1/2" H, 7 3/4" L.

The important collection of H. Marshall Goodman Jr., Richmond, VA.

Condition

Good overall condition, one wing with old glued break running with the grain, otherwise only the visual losses of paint.
