The canvas has been relined, and the varnish is a little dirty, discoloured and chilled in parts. There is abrasion and corresponding discoloured restoration around the edge of the canvas. The paint surface is thin in parts. There are scattered losses throughout, and the paint surface is just starting to lift in parts of the basket. There is a little strengthening to some of the fruit, lower left.
Inspection under ultraviolet light is hindered by very thick varnish, but it is just possible to see: the aforementioned restoration around the edge of the canvas; a few tiny infillings and retouchings to the background and foreground; infilling to the darker tones to the flower and basket shadows; some strengthening to the parrot and fruit, left side. Further restoration cannot be excluded.
