AN EDWARDIAN NEOCLASSICAL PAINTED SATINWOOD TAMBOUR BONHEUR DU JOUR, ENGLISH, EARLY 20TH CENTURY, with molded cornice over a painted flower garland swag frieze above two glazed bookcase cupboard doors opening to fixed shelving surmounting a tambour cylinder desk with gilt bronze knobs rolling back and opening to reveal three cubby holes over three bombé, serpentine drawers above a pull out writing surface to a singled swag painted drawer within curved panels painted with flower sprays and pinstriping with cockbead trim, raised on square tapered legs painted with double helix flower festooning. Height: 77 1/8" Width: 24" Depth: 23"
Condition
Some veneer loss, old exposure to woodworm, tambour slightly sticking but working, locks marked "SC&S", mounted with old lighting on interior, glazed windows likely replacements, faux bois rosewood drawer interior, apparent scratches, dents, and minor surface wear throughout.
