Description
attributed to RAOUL DUFY (French 1877-1953) A PAINTING, "Tattenham Corner," 1933, oil on artist's board, signed, titled, and dated L/L, "Raoul Dufy / Tattenham Corner / 1933," inscribed on reverse, "Tattenham England. / 1933.;" 13" x 21 1/2", framed 21 1/2" x 30 1/4". Note: Tattenham Corner refers to a sharp bend at the Epsom Downs Racecourse in the United Kingdom. During the 1930s, Dufy was at the height of his powers and gained fame for his stylish and animated race scenes from the major racecourses in France and England.
Condition
There is a reverse "C" shaped crack in the lower right quadrant of the painting. It begins just above the grouping of horses in the center and extends up and to the right into the infield of the track and then down in front of the lead horses. There are touch-ups around the crack. There is also a small missing chip at L/C.
