A GEORGE III SCAGLIOLA INLAID BRECHE DE VENDOME AND WHITE MARBLE FIREPLACE SURROUND, PROBABLY ENGLISH, EARLY 19TH CENTURY, the rectangular top over a breakfront crown molding and fascia face centering a tablet cartouche inlaid with a rectangular, exquisitely variegated deep rouge, violet, cream, and green color marble, over relief flower medallions above Ionic order capitals with egg-and-dart motif over inlaid scagliola flutes on step molded plinth, approximate height: 62-65", width: 77", depth: 11 1/2"; opening height: 43 3/4", width: 46 1/4". Provenance: River Oaks Boulevard Estate of Fayez Sarofim, Houston, Texas.
