Description
2 early 20th century Pittsburgh streetcar or trolley two-sided signs. One circular "Car Stop" sign with black lettering on white porcelain enamel ground, the other "Power Off" with black lettering on vibrant orange enamel ground. Each with two cable attachment hinges at upper edges, one with the cable still remaining. Adding to its charm, the circular "Car Stop" sign was once used as a target, as evidenced by the dented spots and enamel loss. The white is 15 x 15 inches, and 18 inches from the lower edge to the top of the hinges. The orange is 11.5 x 17.5 inches, and 15 inches from the lower edge to the top of the hinges.
Condition
Both with age appropriate wear and usage related loss, with heavy oxidation at hinges. Car Stop sign with enamel loss and dents where bullets hit.
